First and foremost, Jake McCrary (Miami/Coral Reef) is committed to the Florida State Seminoles.
But that doesn’t mean the junior wide receiver wasn’t thrilled when he picked up an offer from Ohio State.
“It means a lot,” McCrary said. “Ohio State is a great school. They have a great tradition and great academics.
“They have a new coach (Urban Meyer) that came from Florida. I know he’s been off a year, but he’s turned things around.”
Make no mistake. What McCrary likes about the Buckeyes has a lot to do with Meyer. As a Floridian, some of McCrary’s fondest memories are of the current Ohio State coach winning national championships with the Gators.
So when Meyer showed interest, it was reciprocated by McCrary.
“He’s made the program even better,” McCrary said. “They’re successful with him. It’s just a great school.”
McCrary said he doesn’t have plans for unofficial visits this fall, but would like to take a look at all the colleges that have offered him to this point next summer.
He has offers from Alabama, Boise State, Clemson, Florida, Kansas State, LSU, Marshall, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, South Florida and UCLA. There’s also interest coming from Oregon, Miami and Wisconsin.
