Just because Ohio State has had two straight successful recruiting classes along the defensive front doesn’t mean Urban Meyer is satisfied.
The ball coach dipped into an area he knows a lot about and offered Dante Sawyer (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett) on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-3, 245-pound defensive end has turned it up in September and is drawing rave revues in the recruiting world.
An unknown commodity of sorts -- he picked up his first offer in North Carolina three weeks ago -- Sawyer now has offers from the Tar Heels and Buckeyes to go along with interest from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech and LSU.
Recruited by Mike Vrabel, he is very intrigued by the Buckeyes and is hoping to make an unofficial visit soon. He has an unofficial visit to North Carolina already lined up for Saturday and has been to games at Alabama and Georgia this fall.
In limited action as a sophomore, Sawyer made 18 tackles and had three sacks.
Sawyer almost equaled that in Week 1 this season, recording 16 tackles -- three for loss -- while forcing two fumbles and adding five quarterback pressures.
