Jamarco Jones excited for trip to OSU

Jamarco Jones (Chicago/De La Salle) hasn’t been back to Columbus since he was getting instruction from Orlando Pace and LeCharles Bentley back in July at Ohio State’s Friday Night Lights camp.

The ESPN Watch List offensive tackle has gone to Michigan and Michigan State on unofficial visits and was at Soldier Field when Notre Dame took on Miami (Fla.) on Oct. 6 in a 41-3 win by the Fighting Irish.

But that doesn’t mean the 6-foot-5, 285-pound Jones has forgotten about the Buckeyes.

“I’ve been watching them,” Jones said. “I know they’re undefeated right now. Their offense is playing really well this year.

“Braxton Miller, he is one of the best players probably in college football this season. He makes a big difference running the ball and his ability to create plays for himself and his team is great. He’s a big part of what they do. The line has been playing real well, too.”

While Jones is planning trips to Northwestern and Wisconsin and might see Michigan State and Notre Dame again, he said he’ll definitely be in attendance on Nov. 24 at The Horseshoe against Michigan.

“That’s the game I’m going to,” Jones said. “I know the environment will be crazy. It’s one of the biggest rivalries in the history of college football. I just want to get a feel for the fans and see how good the team does.”

Jones has offers from 14 schools -- 10 coming from the Big Ten -- and said Ohio State is very much in the mix as he tries to whittle down his choices.

He said he wants to start trimming his list in the spring and would like to be committed somewhere before his senior season starts. That school might even be painted in Ohio State scarlet and gray.

“Yes, I could see myself there,” Jones said. “The tradition they have there is amazing. I like the coaching staff they have. The things they do offensively, I do already. I could definitely see myself there.”
