OSU brass prep for busy recruiting week

The way Ohio State coaches see it, Dorian Johnson is still sitting out there.

Ditto for Vonn Bell, Mike Mitchell, David Dawson and Corn Elder.

That’s why the Buckeyes aren’t resting on their bye week as they branch out as far as they can to comb the country for recruits and commitments.

A look at the Twitter world shows just how far Ohio State will go this week as director of player personnel Mark Pantoni tweeted out the Buckeyes coaching staff will travel to 16 states this week.

Urban Meyer is in Northeast Ohio today and that means players like Shelton Gibson and the Glenville trio of Christopher Worley, Marshon Lattimore and Marcelys Jones could have the head coach in their schools.

It is likely commit Tracy Sprinkle, Gareon Conley and Donovan Munger might see Meyer roaming the halls as well.

Running backs coach Stan Drayton is headed out to see commit Ezekiel Elliott in St. Louis on Monday night for his playoff game, according to Elliott’s Twitter account, while cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs says he’ll be in New Jersey, Indianapolis, Toledo, Detroit and Cincinnati this week.

Wide receivers coach Zach Smith is in Washington D.C. where D’Andre Payne, Jonathan Haden and Jalen Tabor reside with Da’Shawn Hand and Quin Blanding not far away in Virginia.

Quarterback coach/offensive coordinator’s Tom Herman Twitter account had him touching down in Dallas on Sunday night where he might check in with coaches for commit J.T. Barrett and Mitchell. Cameron Hampton, Demetrius Knox and Ed Paris are also around the corner.

There are likely to be many more stops along the way as the Buckeyes look to shore up the Class of 2013 and get 2014 started as well.
