Six OSU commits headed to The Opening

The names sit out there ready to be plucked by the biggest schools in college football.

Players such as cornerbacks Vernon Hargreaves III (Tampa, Fla./Wharton) and Kendall Fuller (Olney, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) are scheduled to participate at The Opening, which runs from Thursday through Sunday at Beaverton, Ore.

Among the elite, they’ll be joined by wide receiver Laquon Treadwell (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee) and running back Derrick Green (Richmond, Va./Hermitage).

All four will be on the West Coast and have offers from Ohio State. And the quartet could hear quite a bit about the Buckeyes at the by invitation only all-star camp this weekend.

They’ll hear it because six committed Buckeyes recruits will be there as well.

If Cam Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison) isn’t all over Hargreaves and Fuller, it’s likely Eli Woodard (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) will grab their attention.

Ezekiel Elliott (St. Louis/John Burroughs) and Marcus Baugh (Riverside, Calif./John W. North) will likely teach the words to “Carmen Ohio” to Green in the meantime.

That could leave Jalin Marshall (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) and Jayme Thompson (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic) to mop up the rest as recruiting efforts heat up.

With Ohio State’s Friday Night Lights scheduled for the end of the month, there’s little doubt Burrows, Woodard, Elliott, Baugh, Marshall and Thompson will break out in a full-court press to bring as many recruits to Columbus as they can.

Highlights from The Opening will be shown on ESPNU with the following schedule:

July 6: 8-9:30 p.m. ET

July 7: 8-10 p.m. ET

July 8: 8-10:30 p.m. ET
