The fact DeShaun Watson (Gainesville, Ga./Gainesville) has already given his verbal commitment to Clemson didn’t stop Ohio State from offering a scholarship to the 2014 quarterback.
Watson’s numbers are hard to ignore as he was 229-of-337 for 3,221 yards with 41 touchdowns last season. He also rushed 156 times for 1,073 yards and 16 touchdowns.
As a freshman, Watson passed for 2,100 yards, 17 touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing for 500 yards and five scores.
“Ohio State’s offer means a lot,” Watson said. “They really have interest in me and what I can do. Getting recruited by one of the best coaches ever in Urban Meyer is great.”
While the 6-foot-2, 175-pound Watson was at Georgia’s Dawg Night on Friday and he picked up an offer from the Buckeyes, he’s still not coming off the offer from the Tigers.
“I’m still committed to Clemson,” he said. “But I’m still young and have a long time before I sign any papers, so I’m going to go places I’ve never been and enjoy the recruitment because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
