It’s time to dip into the BuckeyeNation recruiting mailbag and answer some of your questions.
We’ll try to give everyone a chance to get their questions answered.
We encourage you to send your questions by Twitter at @bbournival, e-mail at email@example.com or by posting a question in the Horseshoe Pit forum.
Here’s the latest installment:
BuckeyeNation: In a word, yes. Watson is one of those quarterbacks that doesn’t come around too often. One look at his numbers from last season proves that. Watson finished the season with 4,024 yards and 50 touchdowns and rushed for 1,441 yards and 24 more scores in leading Gainesville (Ga.) to its first state title in school history. That’s 74 combined touchdowns.
By comparison, Barker, who is no slouch at all, threw for 2,072 yards and 22 touchdowns and rushed for 1,455 yards and 18 scores. Henderson logged 1,918 yards through the air with 14 scores and ran the ball for 381 yards and six touchdowns.
firstname.lastname@example.org: Where will Elijah Hood end up?
BN: The ESPN Watch List junior has a top three of Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State right now. I turned to Southeast Recruiting writer Kipp Adams to make sure that what I thought about Notre Dame being the leader was still accurate. “I would say they lead, I would not say that is where he ends up,” he said. “They’re the front car with 150 laps to go in the Indy 500.”
Hood is a huge get for whoever signs him. As a junior, Hood put up incredible numbers, rushing for 3,309 yards and scoring 48 touchdowns. In the last two seasons, he’s gobbled up 5,291 yards and found the end zone 83 times.
@dmost13: After a strong wide receiver class in 2013, where do the Buckeyes turn to in 2014?
Landing four four-star wide receiver/athletes certainly went a long way for Ohio State in February. That’s given the Buckeyes some flexibility for 2014. Lonnie Johnson and ESPN Watch List wideout Thaddeus Snodgrass wanted to make their announcements early and postponed said announcements at the last minute. Ohio State will be super picky this year at the position. Expect names such as Michigan State commit Drake Harris, Derek Kief, Demarre Kitt and Dallis Todd to stay on the Buckeyes’ radar.
@johnLpoetry: How serious is Marcelys Jones’ new fascination with Alabama and will he still be a strong pledge for the Buckeyes?
BN: Having talked to Jones countless times, he’s a junior that wears his heart on his sleeve and doesn’t pull punches. Anyone getting an offer from a two-time defending national champion would be excited. Jones said what was on his mind. I still think he winds up at Ohio State. He’s just enjoying the recruiting process, while he can. Right now, I wouldn’t worry about him at all.
