Ohio State got its kicks, but lost a few in a wild week of recruiting.
Here’s an overview of what happened:
On Sunday, Derek Kief, who broke down his top five late Friday, picked Alabama over Ohio State. However, Chad Mavety and the Buckeyes are looking more like a fit. Raekwon McMillan took a trip to Florida, however, and is lining up another one soon.
On Wednesday, foreign exchange student and Ohio State target Hjalte Froholdt broke down his year in the states and talked his future in college football. ESPN 150 safety Jamal Adams broke down his top eight and yes, Ohio State is in there. Buckeyes legacy Derek Barnett picked up an offer, as did Brock Ruble.
Athlete Kiy Hester talked top seven on Tuesday, but was overshadowed by commitment No. 10 in the form of kicker Sean Nuernberger, whose father played in the Olympics for the German national basketball team. Running backs continued to be high on the Buckeyes when Jacques Patrick raved about the Buckeyes following his trip, while Corey Avery put them in his top two. Jalen Brown also broke down his trip to Ohio State. Damian Prince listed his top 10, with Ohio State in the mix.
On Monday, BuckeyeNation broke down three offers that came out of last week’s senior advanced camp and then gave you the skinny on the fourth. We also gave readers names of the future as the underclassmen shined at the camp more than the seniors did.
But the Buckeyes lost out on Jermaine Eluemunor, who chose UCLA over Ohio State though he indicated he still will visit Columbus this weekend. A new name surfaced as well, and he has ties to some big Cleveland Glenville and Cleveland Benedictine prospects. Some of the biggest news happened during a visit, however, as the Buckeyes emerged as the favorite for running back Jonathan Hilliman.
