One of the hottest commodities in the class of 2015 just got a little hotter, as running back Jacques Patrick (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek) picked up his 14th Division I offer on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Patrick was tabbed today by running backs coach Stan Drayton and Ohio State, which joined Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State, Tennessee, UCF, USC and Vanderbilt as early suitors.
It’s an offer Patrick holds above many others.
“They’re one of my childhood favorites growing up, so it meant a lot to have them offer my sophomore year,” he said. “It would be an honor to play for Urban Meyer. He’s one of the best college coaches out there. He knows what he’s doing. It would be a blessing to play for him.”
Patrick’s numbers this season for East River are mind-boggling, as the sophomore collected 2,100 yards on the ground and scored 31 touchdowns. He made the most of his two catches on the season, scoring a touchdown on one to finish with 107 yards receiving.
As a freshman, Patrick ran for 1,162 yards and scored 8 touchdowns, while splitting time with three other running backs.
“Wherever I go, they’ll get someone with a lot of versatility,” Patrick said of himself. “I do a lot of things. My power and my vision are strong.”
