Booker, Jones take in Buckeyes' upset

Dante Booker (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) got to see it for the first time as a junior. For Marcelys Jones (Cleveland/Glenville), watching Ohio State beat Michigan has become old hat.

Both were in attendance for the Buckeyes’ 56-53 upset victory over second-ranked Michigan on Sunday.

While they took in the men’s basketball game, they were there on unofficial visits for football.

“It was great,” Booker said in a text message. “Had a good time!”

The ESPN Watch List junior didn’t leave with a commitment. Jones is already committed to the Buckeyes. He became the first in the class of 2014 for Ohio State on Christmas.

“It was the same; it was still a good atmosphere,” Jones said. “I enjoyed myself.

“[Ohio State’s win] definitely made it even more exciting for me. It was a good atmosphere, a good game.”

As Jones put it, he was down in Columbus, Ohio, with all of Glenville. At least it seemed that way with Christopher Worley committing to Ohio State on Friday.

Teammates Erick Smith and Marshon Lattimore were also there on unofficial visits as well.

“I really don’t want to speak for them,” Jones said. “But I think they had a good time.”

Jones was even more pumped when he found out ESPN Watch List cornerback Damon Webb (Detroit/Cass Tech) committed to the Buckeyes as a junior.

“It was a great way to start out the 2014 class,” he said. “That 2014 class will be a good class. I’m just proud to have Damon Webb join that class with me.”
