NittanyNation contacted several Penn State commits who plan to visit Happy Valley for the Ohio State game. The commits were asked what they expected and what they most looked forward to.
Here’s what they had to say:
QB Christian Hackenberg (Fork Union, Va./Fork Union)
Four stars, No. 1 quarterback
"I grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania, and I grew up in a football family. We know about the tradition of Penn State, and the Ohio State-Penn State game is always huge. You're always going to pack the building, and this is going to be a Big Ten smash-mouth football game. I'm curious to see how it is with Urban [Meyer] bringing that whole read-option type thing and Coach [Bill] O'Brien bringing in that Patriots offense, which are two very different offensive schemes.
"I'm actually curious to see the offensive line. I haven't seen them live yet. I'm looking forward to seeing that and soaking up the atmosphere because it's going to be crazy. I think the last big game I was at of theirs was when they played Michigan State to clinch the Big Ten, I think, in 2007. That would have been my last time."
TE Adam Breneman (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff)
Four stars, No. 1 at position
"It'll be a great experience to go out there. The atmosphere's going to be crazy. There's going to be a bunch of recruits up there, a bunch of us commits I haven't seen in a while. It'll be fun, and I think we're probably going to stay overnight.
"The atmosphere's going to stay crazy, and I think it'll be good for other recruits who haven't committed yet. I think once you walk onto Beaver Stadium's grass and hear the crowd and see the offense and defense, I think it's going to appeal to a lot of kids."
LB Brandon Bell (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest)
Three stars, No. 64 at position
"I'm looking forward to everything. It's going to be a great game, and it'll be my first night game at Penn State. I can't wait to get back together with some of the guys.
"I think Penn State just needs to play the way they've been playing. I don't there's anything special they need to do to step up. It may be the best offensive team they've come up against, but they just need to keep doing what they've been doing."
CB Jordan Smith (Washington, D.C./Howard D. Woodson)
Three stars, No. 59 at position
"Let me tell you, I'm truly excited to see the Ohio State game. I really can't wait. The atmosphere is going to be crazy. I'm thinking about the atmosphere; it's a 'White Out' game. I know the intensity is going to be up, and the adrenaline will be running.
"What really gets me going is seeing my future teammates come out of the tunnel and, at the end of the game, seeing them all together and singing the alma mater."
