Visiting recruits talk Saturday experience

NittanyNation recently caught up with some recruits who attended Saturday's Penn State-Indiana game. Here's what they had to say about their experiences:

Aaron Wimberly, RB, Class of 2013

Council Bluffs (Iowa) Iowa Western C.C.

"It was a great environment, seeing the game against Indiana. It was Thanksgiving [break], so it wasn't as packed as it would normally be. But there was still 90,000 there, and I felt that was pretty good."

Zach Weisel, TE, Class of 2014

Cedar Grove (N.J.)

"It was really cool. I've always been a big Penn State fan -- my dad actually went to a football camp there when he was in high school. It was just great with the whole student section behind me and having close to 110,000 people cheering you on.

"It was just awesome. And I thought it was pretty cool they used two or three tight ends. That definitely seemed like a good thing if I'd go there as a tight end."

Derek Yoder, OT, Class of 2013

Lewistown (Pa.) Mifflin County

"Oh, it was awesome. I'd say my favorite part was just going out through the tunnel right before the game. As soon as you step out, you see everyone, and you know there's been a lot of great players that came through there and walked out of the same tunnel."

Rick Young, DT, Class of 2014

Souderton (Pa.)

"I really liked meeting the coaches before the game. I think it's important to know if you do go to that school who's going to be around the most and who's going to teach you what you need to learn. Coach [Larry] Johnson, I really like him.

"He's a Christian, which is really cool, because I am, too, and I think that's a great quality. They're really a positive, upbeat group of coaches. They're just fun to be around."

Justin Morrison, CB, Class of 2014

Woolwick Township (N.J.) Kingsway

"I loved the game. I love Penn State. It had a great atmosphere, they pulled out the win, and they played real good. They have a good tradition, a good background, and it's a great school even with all the things that happened."

Ray Lawry, RB, Class of 2014

Woolwick Township (N.J.) Kingsway

"I liked the atmosphere the most, the fans and everything, and I liked how Penn State runs the ball a lot. I thought Penn State was the best out of all the places I visited because of the fan base and having a good relationship with all the coaches there. I like the whole campus."

Brandon McIlwain, QB, Class of 2016

Newtown (Pa.) Council Rock North

"I was just in awe, looking at how big some of the players were and look at the stadium and all the seats and people that were there. Just the fact Bill O'Brien coached Tom Brady and now is even talking to me about any kind of quarterback stuff, it's a blessing."
