SEC bowl projections: Week 9

Missouri was one play away from locking up the SEC East on Saturday, but South Carolina fought back and handed the Tigers their first loss of the season in double overtime. Now the East is up for grabs once again with South Carolina, Missouri and the winner of this weekend’s Florida-Georgia game all still in contention.

The other team who benefited from Missouri’s loss was Auburn. The Tigers climbed into the top 10 in the AP poll and are now second in the SEC behind Alabama. There’s a chance that both teams will be ranked in the top 10 when they meet in the Iron Bowl next month. Win or lose, Auburn looks destined to play in a BCS bowl.

This weekend, Missouri will have to bounce back against a hungry Tennessee team. The Volunteers are one of five SEC teams who still need two wins to become bowl eligible, and a road win this Saturday would go a long way in making that happen.
