Kohl Stewart ranked in top 30 for MLB draft

One of Texas A&M's top committed prospects in the Class of 2013 is Houston/St. Pius X quarterback Kohl Stewart. The four-star quarterback, who is ranked seventh nationally among quarterbacks, is also a big-time baseball prospect and appears destined to be chosen high in the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft next June.

ESPN.com MLB Insider Keith Law thinks highly of Stewart's pitching ability, so much so that he has ranked the right-hander among the top 30 prospects in the 2013 draft in a very early projection. Stewart comes in at no. 8 in Law's ranking. Here's what he had to say about Stewart:

"Stewart is committed to Texas A&M to play quarterback but should never set foot on campus, not with a 92-95 mph fastball that has touched 97 and feel for both a slider and changeup."

When asked, Stewart has maintained that he intends to play both football and baseball at Texas A&M and that he isn't thinking about the June 2013 baseball draft and won't worry about making a decision until he has to. He's clearly highly regarded on the diamond -- he recently participated in the Area Code Games and the Perfect Game All-American Classic, but went to great efforts to be back with his football teammates for fall practice despite the schedule conflict with baseball.

Stewart is one of two quarterbacks committed to Texas A&M in the 2013 class, with Southlake Carroll's Kenny Hill being the other.

What do you think? Will Stewart make it to College Station and be a dual-sport star for the Aggies or will he take the opportunity to play professional baseball if he is drafted high next summer?
