The Texas A&M Top 10: Week 3

Each week moving forward this season, GigEmNation will rank Texas A&M's top 10 performers of the season up to this point. Now that the Aggies have two games under their belts, let's look at who has shined so far:

1. QB Johnny Manziel

Manziel has been impressive considering that he's a redshirt freshman. He performed admirably in his debut against Florida and exploded in the Aggies' win against SMU, accounting for 418 offensive yards and six touchdowns. Through two games, he has had a hand in all but one Aggie touchdown.

2. DE Damontre Moore

The junior has been a force, collecting 16 tackles and five sacks in two games. He's second in the country in sacks and no. 1 in sacks per game through the first two games.

3. LT Luke Joeckel

Joeckel has shown why he's so highly thought-of nationally, being strong and consistent in pass protection, rarely allowing defenders to get past him.

4. WR Mike Evans

His physical, fast and can leap. All of those traits helped him catch six passes for 123 yards in the win over SMU, and he looks like he can only get better. He has a team-high 13 catches and 183 yards through two games.

5. DT Spencer Nealy

He opened the season with two sacks against Florida and added a half-tackle for loss in the win over SMU. He has been strong in the run game as well, pushing interior defenders back and using his athleticism to slip into the backfield at times.

6. RT Jake Matthews

Like Joeckel, Matthews has been solid in pass protection and has won most of the battles he has had with opposing defensive players.

7. LB Jonathan Stewart

The senior has a team-high 22 tackles so far, including a 17-tackle performance in the opener against Florida. He has been around the ball constantly.

8. LB Sean Porter

The senior has been around the ball plenty and has been solid, collecting 12 tackles and a half-sack in the first two games. He seems to be in the right spots at the right time frequently.

9. LB Steven Jenkins

He had a strong season-opening performance against Florida (nine tackles, one sack) though he wasn't on the field quite as much against SMU, as Texas A&M spent most of its time in a nickel defense, but he still collected four tackles.

10. C Patrick Lewis

The senior is charged with making sure the Aggies keep an accelerated tempo on offense and he has appeared to do a solid job of that so far. No bad snaps and he has done well in pass protection.
