Texas among 2012 schedule winners

ESPN The Magazine's Ryan McGee takes a look at teams that could have success based around review of their 2012 schedules.

Here's the full breakdown.

Texas cracks the list at No. 7. Here's what McGee had to say about the Longhorns:

7. Texas Longhorns

Way Too Early Ranking: 21

Home games: 7

Road games: 5

Nonconference opponents: Wyoming, New Mexico, Ole Miss

Biggest test: Oct. 6 vs. Oklahoma

Again, if you make want to make a big move early in the year, then you need to come in a little lower in the rankings. The Longhorns are coming off a forgettable 8-5 campaign and are certain to open the season on the lowest rungs of the preseason Top 25. If they take care of business against Wyoming in the opener, matchups with dreadful New Mexico and Ole Miss will lead to a 3-0 start and a reputation-fueled big move up the polls.
