Texas coaches have put another offensive tackle target on their board, but they may already be too late.
At this point, he’s not sure he wants to make the trip. Gustafson said he’s never spoken with a UT coach and assumed they weren’t calling because they preferred touted 2013 tackle Kent Perkins (Dallas/Lake Highlands).
“I had already kind of started narrowing stuff down,” Gustafson said. “I’ve still got to talk about that with my family if I’m even going to consider Texas.”
Gustafson took a big unofficial visit to Texas A&M on Tuesday, where he spent one-on-one time with coach Kevin Sumlin and offensive line coach B.J. Anderson.
“I would say I had my best visit at Texas A&M, because of the family feel of the school and the tradition there is a rich as anywhere else,” he said.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound tackle said his top five in no particular order includes A&M, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
He’s attended junior days at Arkansas, OU and Baylor and is planning to make trips to junior days at Oklahoma State and Nebraska. Each of those schools have already offered him a scholarship.
