Early 2014 defensive recruiting board

HornsNation has already taken a look at some of the offensive prospects the Longhorns will keep an eye on as they shift their attention to the class of 2014.

Here’s a look at those on defense that will be in that discussion:

Take your pick. This is a position in state that could rival that of any other position nationwide.

On the roster: Carrington Byndom, Jr.; Quandre Diggs, Soph.; Bryson Echols, Fr.; Adrian Phillips, Jr.; Leroy Scott, Soph.; Duke Thomas, Fr.; Josh Turner, Soph.; Kevin Vaccaro, Fr.

Committed in 2013: Antwuan Davis (Bastrop, Texas/Bastrop), No. 15 CB.

Top Targets

Tony Brown (Beaumont, Texas/Ozen); Nick Harvey (Lancaster, Texas/Lancaster); Nick Watkins (Dallas/Bishop Dunne).

The Longhorns will probably offer all three of these heralded cornerbacks, and with good reason. They are among the best in the country. Brown is as physically imposing as they come. Harvey is skilled beyond his years with a quiet killer instinct to match and Watkins already holds offers from some of the nation’s elite.

Keep an eye on

Darrion Johnson (Brenham, Texas/Brenham); Arrion Springs (San Antonio/Roosevelt); Cedric Dale (Keller, Texas/ Timber Creek).
