They’re only college football opinions, but at least they’re all mine:
The difficult thing to understand is why Lane Kiffin seems so hesitant to throw more to Agholor, who was the best player on the team in spring practice . . .
Maybe everything in the second half of USC’s game on Saturday had to do with Cody Kessler’s injured throwing hand. Maybe . . .
It’s difficult to know just how good Arizona State is. The Sun Devils never would have been close to Stanford last week, if Cardinal coach David Shaw hadn’t taken his foot off the gas after rolling to a 29-0 lead . . .
Even then, though, the odds makers have made Arizona State a 61/2 point pick over the Trojans on Saturday night. And what does that tell you? . . .
Jordan Cameron, was a USC receiver who always made spectacular catches in practice but rarely played. He had one TD pass in his Trojans’ career. Sunday, for the Cleveland Browns, he caught three passes for touchdowns in one game . . .
UCLA is on cruise control for now, but two giant bumps in the road are coming up on Oct. 19 and 26 when the Bruins travel to play Stanford and Oregon back to back . . .
If Brett Hundley can find a way to win one of those two games, UCLA should wind up in a BCS bowl game, but it won’t be easy . . .
The most intriguing Pac-12 team at the moment is Washington. I mean, just how good are Steve Sarkisian’s guys? We’ll find out soon. The Huskies, too, get Stanford and Oregon in consecutive weeks in October, although only one is on the road . . .
Oregon State was held to just two yards rushing against San Diego State. Not a good sign for Coach Mike Riley . . .
The running back nobody in America is talking about yet is Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon. All he’s done is rush for 624 yards, 7 TDs and an eye-popping 11.8 yards-per-rush in four games. Now let’s see how he does against Ohio State . . .
Speaking of the Buckeyes, Urban Meyer has to go back to Braxton Miller at quarterback if the Heisman Trophy candidate is healthy. Kenny Guiton did a great job filling in, but Miller is still the man in Columbus . . .
The team I really want to see more of is Baylor, a group that keeps dropping 70 points on opponents as if it were tossing away so many Texas barbecue ribs after dinner . . .
LSU vs. Georgia is the game of the week. Give me the Tigers, who always seem to play better defense . . .
Remember when Oklahoma vs. Notre Dame was really a big deal? Not anymore. Now it’s just another game on the crowded weekend schedule . . .
Alabama hasn’t appeared overwhelming so far this season, but it’s still hard to believe a young, talented Mississippi team is good enough to come to Tuscaloosa and upset Nick Saban’s guys . . .
Michigan 24, Connecticut 21? What’s happened to the Wolverines in the past two weeks, anyway? . . .
Nick Montana is now the starting quarterback at Tulane. And yes, his father is You-Know-Who . . .
