Looking to add another body to the defensive backfield with this recruiting class, Lane Kiffin and his staff extended a late offer to a local product Monday evening.
Inglewood defensive back Devian Shelton thought he had narrowed his college choices down to Washington, Oregon State and Nebraska, but will add a fourth hat to his announcement on Wednesday, which will take place at 9 a.m. PT.
"He is very excited about it," Inglewood coach Khalid Ali said of the USC offer. "He was looking at those three schools, but you can't ignore an offer from USC."
Ali said the USC coaches have been keeping tabs on Shelton throughout the season and are familiar with him through camps and Shelton taking numerous visits to the campus.
"They know who the players are in the area and something came up where they could offer him," said Ali, adding that the USC coaches know Shelton is able to play cornerback and safety and haven't specified which position they see him playing.
