WeAreSC Roundtable

Redshirt freshman George Uko showed flashes of potential in 2011 and suddenly becomes the veteran presence for the Trojans at defensive tackle. Chris Williams/Icon SMI

With spring ball set to begin in less than a month, the WeAreSC staff looks ahead to the three most intriguing positions and the player at each spot they are most interested in watching.

1. Defensive tackle: The Trojans have the players to control the edges of the line of scrimmage. However, the nose tackle and 3-technique are up for grabs. Look for the middle of the D-line to be very competitive this spring.

Player I'll be watching: George Uko.

2. Fullback: The Trojans got a good fullback in Jahleel Pinner in this recruiting class, but it's a gamble to wait and hope that the incoming freshman will be able to handle the transition from high school to college. Look for the players who already are on the roster to have some big collisions this spring, as these fullbacks will be competing for the starting job.

Player I'll be watching: Soma Vainuku
