USC offers talented Florida tailback

The USC staff won't be shy about going after top tailback talent in the 2013 class, and Wednesday brought another offer to a dynamic out-of-state player in Ryan Green (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg Catholic).

The 5-foot-10, 195-pound Green has now received approximately 20 offers, according to his father, Vader.

Vader Green said he was informed last night that the USC coaching staff wanted to speak with the family. When the elder Green called back this morning, the USC staff was watching film of Ryan. When Vader Green called back later in the afternoon, the Trojans coaches had seen all they needed to see.

"They said they definitely want to officially offer him," Vader Green said. "They said he is one of the most explosive backs they've seen in some time."

Green rushed for 1,170 yards and 21 total touchdowns, including three kickoff return scores as a junior. He has collected offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Florida State, Florida, Notre Dame and Ohio State, among others, but Vader Green said the USC offer could make things interesting. The Trojans will also have some recruiting help, as Green is friends with USC signee Nelson Agholor.

"Ryan was ecstatic," Vader Green said. "He was excited about getting the offer. Now we'll have to see how it fits in the mix. We're going to have to sort through them all."

Vader Green said while Ryan has already begun forming something of a list, they likely won't sit down as a family to discuss everything until Green is finished with the track season later this spring. Green doesn't get much time to rest, as he moves directly from football to basketball to track.

But the USC offer could mean something of a vacation lies ahead. Though Green has family that attended Florida State and he grew up a Seminoles fan, he also was a big Reggie Bush fan and followed USC closely as well. That, combined with the fact Green's aunt lives just outside of Los Angeles, could lead to Green taking a closer look at the Trojans this summer.

"We may be going out to participate in their football camp," Vader Green said of USC. "We're talking about putting together a schedule and what we want to do this summer. That is probably going to be one of the trips."
