Several USC football players continued their participation in track and field on Saturday at the Beach Classic at Cerritos College.
Defensive back Tony Burnett took first place in the triple jump (49 feet, 6.25 inches, a season best) and ninth place in the long jump. Wide receiver Marqise Lee took second place in the long jump (23-0.75) while defensive back Nickell Robey took fourth place in that event (23-0.00).
Burnett, Lee, Robey and D.J. Morgan also took part in the 4x100 relay event but did not finish.
Freshman hurdler Sam Barkley, brother of USC quarterback Matt Barkley, placed 17th in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.47.
USC spring football drills begin on Tuesday.
