Cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III is one of many highly touted defensive backs that the Trojans have offered who don't seem to be close to making a college choice. Miller Safrit/ESPN.com

Mark Paradis (Montreal, Canada): Of the uncommitted DBs on the bubble (Byrd, Johnson, Goodman, Foreman, Price, Hargreaves, Redfield, Ramsey etc), who is top of on our board, do you think? How many will we take? And who will we likely end up with? (P.S. Any recruits from Canada going to sign with a D1 Team this year?)

It’s such a good year for defensive backs out here, it’s tough to say which uncommitted guy would be at the top of the wish list. Vernon Hargreaves III (Tampa/Wharton) is a special player and a guy any staff would gladly take. I think he’ll continue to be one of the biggest out of state targets for the USC staff. After Su'a Cravens (Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta), it is tough to rate the safety targets with Max Redfield (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo), Priest Willis (Tempe, Ariz./Marcos De Niza) and Tahaan Goodman (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga). I’d probably put them in that order, with hardly any gap between them. Johnny Johnson (Fresno, Calif./Central) is the top in-state cornerback target and a duo of Chris Hawkins (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) and Johnson would be tremendous. I think five defensive backs in this class is likely, but at this point it would be too tough to make a prediction -- so many of these guys are still so open.

There are a few Canadian prospects with scholarship offers already, including offensive tackle David Knevel (Brantford, Ont./Pauline Johnson) and tight end Trent Corney (Brookville, Ont./Thousand Islands).
