One of the big issues for the Trojans this week will be monitoring the injuries after such a physical game Saturday. At Tuesday's practice there were several players out, including Torin Harris, Dion Bailey, George Farmer and Marc Tyler. Bailey and Tyler have not been cleared to return to action. Among those who were limited were Wes Horton, Jawanza Starling and Rhett Ellison. Matt Kalil also left practice late in the day -- no word on his injury.
Antwaun Woods recovered a fumble at the bottom of a pile that can best be described as a “scrum.” There had to be a dozen bodies jumping on the pile, trying to make the recovery, but it was Woods who came away with the play.
Aundrey Walker absolutely buried Tony Burnett on a block in the outside flat.
At one point in practice the first unit linebacker group featured Hayes Pullard, Lamar Dawson and Tre Madden, two true freshmen and a redshirt freshman, respectively.
Drew McAllister will start the Colorado game, as T.J. McDonald will sit out the first half due to suspension.
Lane Kiffin, on officiating issue: “We’ll agree to disagree. I can’t comment and I’m moving on. It’s been relayed to me that we can’t comment. We addressed the situation with the team this morning and talked about the fact that it’s another distraction that we can’t let affect us. There are a lot of potential distractions in this game – a short week, a night game on a Friday, a road game, the weather, stuff like that.”
Kiffin, on Nickell Robey: “He’s a big part of our improvement on defense. We’ve been matching him up on the main guys and taking them out of the game. He’s playing at a very high level right now. He just plays so hard. Look at the way he ran around the field after his interception, he was so excited. That’s just who he is.”
