USC awards tracker: Week 3

Here is an update on performances of USC players who have been named to various college football award watch lists:

LB Dion Bailey, So. (Bednarik, Nagurski, Lombardi, Butkus): Bailey was second on the team in tackles with nine and also added an interception, as well as a tipped ball that led to an interception by Jawanza Starling.

QB Matt Barkley, Sr. (Camp, Maxwell, O’Brien): Barkley was pressured and hit hard all night. He completed 20 of 41 passes for 254 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. He was also sacked four times.

PK Andre Heidari, So. (Groza): Did not play.

OC Khaled Holmes, Sr. (Rimington): Did not play. His absence led to troubles on the offensive line for USC.

WR Marqise Lee, So. (Biletnikoff, Maxwell): Had eight catches for 100 yards, no touchdowns.

DB T.J. McDonald, Sr. (Thorpe, Camp, Bednarik, Nagurski): McDonald had a solid game with nine tackles and a blocked field goal attempt. He was very active in the first half to help slow the Stanford offense.

WR Robert Woods, Jr. (Biletnikoff, Camp, Maxwell): Was held to four catches for 38 yards although one catch and run was pretty spectacular. On a 4th and 19, Woods raced all the way across the field to get 24 and a first down.

RB Curtis McNeal, Sr. (Maxwell, Walker): McNeal was the most productive of the USC runners with 37 total yards on seven carries (30 of those on one run).

LB Hayes Pullard, So. (Lombardi): After starting the first two games in the middle, Pullard moved back outside with the return of Lamar Dawson and still had seven tackles.

RB Silas Redd, Jr. (Camp, Maxwell, Walker): Was limited to 1.3 yards per carry (13 rushes, 17 yards) with two touchdowns and one lost fumble.

DB Nickell Robey, Jr. (Bednarik, Nagurski, Thorpe): Robey had five tackles and helped provide good enough coverage in the secondary.

DL Wes Horton, Sr. (Lombardi): Did not start but had first extensive action of the season with five tackles.
