Here is an update on the performances of USC players who have been named to various college football award watch lists:
LB Dion Bailey, So. (Bednarik, Nagurski, Lombardi, Butkus): It was an uncharacteristically slow night for Bailey against Utah with three tackles and one pass break-up.
QB Matt Barkley, Sr. (Camp, Maxwell, O’Brien): Barkley had his most solid overall performance of the season against the Utes, completing 23 of 30 passes for 303 yards and three touchdowns. He didn’t get sacked, he didn’t throw any interceptions and he even had a couple passes dropped that could have helped his totals even more.
PK Andre Heidari, So. (Groza): Hit one of his three field-goal attempts. He made from 32 yards but missed from 40 and 44. Heidari had only missed two previous field-goal attempts in his USC career.
WR Marqise Lee, So. (Biletnikoff, Maxwell): It was another sterling night for Lee with 12 catches for 192 yards and an impressive 83-yard touchdown.
DB T.J. McDonald, Sr. (Thorpe, Camp, Bednarik, Nagurski, Lott): Led the USC defense with nine tackles.
WR Robert Woods, Jr. (Biletnikoff, Camp, Maxwell): Woods had six catches for 69 yards and a touchdown, but his most memorable moment in the Utah game was a scary one when he wobbled and went to the ground after a hard hit on special teams. He came back into the game shortly after with no noticeable effects from the hit.
RB Curtis McNeal, Sr. (Maxwell, Walker): No stats on the day, left the game with reports of concussion-related issues.
LB Hayes Pullard, So. (Lombardi): Had seven tackles and a forced fumble.
RB Silas Redd, Jr. (Camp, Maxwell, Walker): With McNeal out, Redd carried the load with 17 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown.
DB Nickell Robey, Jr. (Bednarik, Nagurski, Thorpe): It was a good all-around game for Robey. Seven tackles, a forced fumble and an interception return for a touchdown that put the game away for the Trojans.
DL Wes Horton, Sr. (Lombardi): It was his most productive game of the year as he steadily returns from injury. Horton had four tackles and a sack.
