Here are this week’s top five high school football games featuring USC recruits:
Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller at Louisville (Ky.) Trinity:
After wrapping up the top spot in Kentucky 6A District 4 and enjoying a much-needed bye week, the regular-season finale is here for USC defensive end commit Jason Hatcher and Trinity (8-0), the No. 2 team in the ESPN 25 power rankings. The latest in a challenging schedule is Moeller (6-3), which features Class of 2013 recruits Shane Jones (Michigan State), Alex Gall (Miami) and Keith Watkins II (Northwestern).
Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany at Encino (Calif.) Crespi:
Trojans receiver commit Steven Mitchell can help Alemany (7-1) all but secure yet another Serra League crown with a road victory here. It probably won’t come easy for Mitchell or Class of 2015 athlete Desean Holmes, as Crespi (7-2) has three-star defensive backs Tyler Foreman and Brandon Arnold in the secondary. The game is slated to be streamed live on IBNsports.com. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT.
Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco vs. Anaheim (Calif.) Servite at Cerritos College:
It might finally be the year that St. John Bosco (4-4) gets past Trinity League power Servite (3-5). USC offensive line commit Nico Falah and Bosco, which would be 8-0 if not for the forfeit of four victories, came close to upsetting the Friars at home last year. Servite is down this season, and Bosco is undoubtedly on the rise. The game will be broadcast by Fox Sports West online at its Prep Zone Live portal. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT.
Santa Monica (Calif.) at Inglewood (Calif.):
It’s a homecoming of sorts for USC receiver commit Sebastian LaRue, a product of Inglewood who had a brief stop at Orange (Calif.) Lutheran before landing at Santa Monica (5-3) last year. LaRue had a game-changing 85-yard touchdown reception last week against Ocean League rival Culver City (Calif.), and now the speedster can clinch at least a share of the league title against Inglewood (6-2), which has won six straight.
Concord (Calif.) De La Salle at Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley:
This is the first of two road tests before the start of playoffs for De La Salle (8-0), a team ranked No. 1 in the state and No. 5 in the ESPN 25 power rankings. Trojans linebacker commit Michael Hutchings and Co. are hitting their stride at the right time.
