GLENDORA, Calif. -- After a perfect trip to Notre Dame left his head spinning, it took four-star cornerback Chris Hawkins (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) a few days to gather his thoughts and clear his mind.
In the end, Hawkins settled on what he’s known all along: He is a USC Trojan, through and through.
“I’m 100 percent committed to USC,” Hawkins said Thursday following a dominant 45-13 victory against Glendora at Citrus College. “I took Notre Dame, Washington and Cal visits. I’ve seen what those schools are like and those schools have nothing on USC.”
Hawkins said he thoroughly enjoyed his official visit to South Bend, even to a level that was unexpected. It created a bit of hysteria given that Hawkins had appeared to be one of the most solid commitments in USC’s recruiting class.
“The Notre Dame visit was great,” Hawkins said. “Coach [Mike] Denbrock, coach [Brian] Kelly, it was great. But, you know, there’s nothing like home and nothing like USC.”
The post-trip euphoria was surprising given that Hawkins hadn’t displayed much emotion following back-to-back visits to Washington and Cal.
“I’m a Trojan,” Hawkins said. “Trojan is in my blood. I’ve always wanted to be a Trojan and I told myself once I got that offer I would commit.”
Hawkins is scheduled to take an official visit -- his fourth overall -- to Arizona State on Oct. 26 for the Sun Devils’ game against UCLA. He is set to visit USC on Dec. 7 along with other early enrollees.
