25 days, 25 names: John Ross

Every time John Ross (Long Beach, Calif./Jordan) visited Seattle, he enjoyed the trip.

Whether it was for Washington’s Rising Stars Camp or an unofficial visit early in the season, the 5-foot-9, 170-pound receiver had nothing but good things to say about the Huskies.

He had former teammates already in the program. He had a cousin -- ESPN Watch List receiver Rahshead Johnson -- already committed to Washington’s 2014 class. He had the opportunity to play for a program that offered everything he was looking for.

But Ross took his time.

He took unofficial visits. He took official visits. He carefully weighed his options.

“I’m just taking everything slow right now,” Ross said after an unofficial visit to watch Washington’s season opener.

Ross eventually decided the right time to announce his decision was during the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl.

He picked Washington over Oregon, Oregon State and UCLA, giving the Huskies another athletic weapon to add to its offensive arsenal. Known for his versatility and ball skills, Ross becomes a part of a talented trio of receivers who will sign with Washington on Feb. 6.

“I feel like what you see is what you get out there,” Ross said after his official visit in December. “I’ve been up there four times -- three unofficially and one official -- and it’s been the same. I like that. The coaches are the same. Nothing changes. The players act the same.”
