Mason Cole wowed by U-M first look

Many recruits are active on social media platforms, tweeting about their recruitment and schools. However, few were as vocal on Twitter this weekend as offensive lineman Mason Cole (Tarpon Springs, Fla./East Lake), who tweeted a near play-by-play of his visit to Michigan.

"Ann Arbor is sweet!" he tweeted.

Later it was, "#GoBlue, baby, such a college town."

And before leaving Ann Arbor he tweeted out, "Sad leavin' this beautiful campus and stadium! I will be back #GoBlue."

"It's such a big college town and really had a home feeling to it," Cole said. "It put a good first impression on me."

Cole spent a solid portion of the BBQ in the Big House hanging out with 2013 offensive line commits Chris Fox (Parker, Co./Ponderosa) and Kyle Bosch (Wheaton, Ill./St. Francis), noting that the experience of talking with so many other recruits and commits was something he hadn’t had at any other visit.

"It was really good to see who I could maybe play with in the next couple years if I ever committed," Cole said.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman said he hasn't had a school wow him as much as Michigan did on the first visit, which is saying a lot since Cole has more than 25 offers and has taken his fair share of visits already this summer.

But the BBQ was actually Cole's second unofficial visit of the weekend with the Wolverines. He and his teammate wide receiver target Artavis Scott (Tarpon Springs, Fla./East Lake) came up to Ann Arbor Saturday to meet with the coaches individually.

On Saturday, Cole and Scott toured the facilities, campus and the Big House, but were able to do it in a much smaller setting. Cole got to sit down one-on-one with a few coaches in their offices to get more face time with the staff.

"They're excited that I came up here to see campus and it shows a lot to them that I’m interested in them," Cole said. "They kept saying hopefully I can be a Wolverine sooner or later."
