ESPN 100 SF King commits to Memphis

The Memphis Tigers secured a commitment from one of their top targets when ESPN 100 small forward Nick King (Memphis, Tenn./East) picked the hometown Tigers over Vanderbilt, Texas and Tennessee.

King, ranked No. 28 overall in the 2013 class, inserted himself into a historic Memphis recruiting class as part of the transition group from Conference USA to the Big East. King joins shooting guard Markel Crawford (Memphis, Tenn./Melrose) in the Tigers class.

King pumped in 21 points a game for East as a junior. The team finished 23-9 with a state championship and King was the MVP of the state tournament.

“He does whatever I ask him to do,” East coach Sam Bachelor said. “He’s 6-foot-7 and has nice range. He causes matchup problems all over the floor. What needs to be done, he’s going to do it.”

Since becoming the head coach of the Tigers, Josh Pastner has now secured four ESPN 100 players from the city of Memphis.
