The Kansas Jayhawks received an early Christmas present in the form of No. 20 junior Brannen Greene (Monroe, Ga./Mary Parsons), who committed to Bill Self’s Jayhawks Tuesday morning over Louisville, Florida and Connecticut.
“I kind of had a deadline,” said Greene, who visited Kansas for Late Night, its version of Midnight Madness. “I felt like I had it to a solid four schools, and I knew where I wanted to go from there."
Greene joins shooting guard Conner Frankamp (Wichita, Kan./North) as 2013 players committed to Kansas. Only Duke, UNC and the Ohio State Buckeyes own pledges from elite juniors at this point.
“The tradition and how much of a value there they have for basketball helped a lot,” he said.
Kansas now can turn its attention to another key strategic target -- ESPNU 60 PF Julius Randle (Dallas/Prestonwood) -- and Greene will do his best to persuade him to commit.
“I’m going to try to get Julius or Chris Walker (Bonifay, Fla./Holmes County) to come along," he said. "I’m going to try."
