Indiana Hoosiers win twice on Saturday

Who says Tom Crean isn’t big in Milwaukee anymore? The Hoosiers latest recruit, Luke Fischer (Germantown, Wisc./Germantown) resides 20 minutes outside of the city where Crean used to coach.

Fischer, a 6-foot-9 power forward from the Class of 2013, attended Saturday’s IU win over Ohio State and after weighing offers from Iowa, Creighton, Boston College and Marquette, picked the Hoosiers. The hysteria following the game helped make his decision easier.

“Me and my family talked about it before we went down there,” Fischer said. “I was still deciding on whether I wanted to do it now or wait but that game kind of sealed it. Walking in there and seeing how everyone reacts to the team, where that team is going and seeing how he coached the team … I’m liking everything about it.”

And what if the Hoosiers had lost?

“I think I still would have (committed) but I would have waited and let them cool down a bit but everything fell into place.”

Fischer, who works out with former Wisconsin Badger Julian Swartz, attended one of Crean’s camps as a fifth grader. “I don’t think he remembered me.” Maybe he didn’t maybe he did but he does now. Fischer is the first underclassman pledge of the new year.

Indiana had a bevy of committed recruits in attendance for the game including signee Yogi Ferrell (Greenfield, Ind./Park Tudor).
