Running backs generally make up the top few spots in the flex rankings each week, and after that it tends to be a relatively even split with wide receivers mixed in, and some tight ends. Not so much this week! Running back continues to be a difficult position to extract statistical goodness from, and the bye weeks can’t be blamed this time around, with only the Falcons’ Devonta Freeman among the top options. What’s a fantasy owner to do? Well, 10 tight ends make this week’s top-100 list, so that’s a relatively deep position and there are many wide receivers to rely on. For perspective, by the time my No. 20 running back shows up on the list below, 46 other players already were listed.
Regardless, each of us has to fill several running back slots each week, but at flex in ESPN standard formats, it also can be a wide receiver or tight end, so as always make the best decision you can and hope for the best. Perhaps your best choice is a running back, or it might not be much of a best choice at all. And by the way, it’s one more week of byes after this one. Enjoy Week 10 and good luck!
