It's not just about the big names getting dealt from bad teams to good ones. A lot of the fun for me at the major league baseball trade deadline is determining what's left behind, those who get a newfound opportunity to show their stuff.
For instance, Lance Berkman is an established big leaguer, and his role for his new franchise (the New York Yankees) is somewhat clear. But in most trades, there's a young player waiting for his chance, or a veteran with something to prove, and that's where fantasy owners can capitalize.
So today I look at winners and losers from the trade deadline, but rather than hitting the big names, I'm looking for players available in at least 80 percent of ESPN standard (10-team) mixed leagues. Because finding the next superstar can be more important than chasing the current ones.
