Promotion of Rougned Odor noteworthy

Let’s first get something straight: The player who made his major league debut at second base for the Texas Rangers Thursday night pronounces his name ROOG-ned o-DOOR. Perhaps you, the intrigued fantasy owner who sees him sitting on your waiver wire, don’t care about that, because you’ll just see the name Rougned Odor and want to know what his somewhat surprising promotion from Double-A Frisco means. Well, I’m similarly intrigued, and Odor going hitless in four at-bats Thursday tells us nothing. The fact that he is in the majors, however, tells us a lot. He should hit and certainly could keep the second base job even when Jurickson Profar is healthy enough to, in theory, finally claim it. Profar might not get the chance, which is why those desperate for middle infield help should not ignore Odor.
