UPDATE: Oklahoma State freshman guard Marcus Smart tweeted last night that he has not decided whether or not he will declare for the NBA draft. The prevailing thought is that he will enter the draft, primarily because he is a top-5 prospect, and could even be selected in the top 3. A return to school with that much on the table at the next leve would be highly unusual. But the insistence that thoughts about his status are just rumors definitely have to pique the interest of fans in Stillwater. If he does decide to stay, Oklahoma State becomes a serious threat to win a Big 12 title. The Cowboys already were near the top of the conference and earned a No. 5 seed in the tournament, before a disappointing exit. With their backcourt core (Smart, Markel Brown, and Phil Forte) a year older, this team could be top 15 going into next season.
It's hard to imagine Oklahoma State freshmen star Marcus Smart doesn't depart to the NBA. The big point guard is a projected top 5 pick and stands at No. 2 on Chad Ford's Big Board. Ford thinks it's possible he returns to Stillwater but finds it unlikely. How will Oklahoma State fare next year without Smart?
