UPDATE: Arizona freshman big Grant Jerrett has declared for the NBA draft. He's listed as the 18th best power forward by Chad Ford and will go into spring workouts realistically pegged as either a second round pick or undrafted. Possible contributions to his decision were the impending emergence of superstar incoming freshman Aaron Gordon (San Jose/Archbishop Mitty) and fellow rising sophomore Brandon Ashley. Jerrett played in 34 of his team's games and started in two, posting a 114 offensive rating on low usage. He'll be able to shoot from multiple places on the floor and his designation as a stretch four could be attractive at the next level. It's a hit to Arizona's front line but it will mean Gordon and Ashley will be asked to carry more of the load, something they should be able to do in their quest for a national championship.
Multiple reports on Monday indicated that Arizona freshman forward Grant Jerrett is considering declaring for the NBA draft. If it happens, it will leave the Wildcats with two open scholarships for 2013, and open the door for more minutes for incoming freshman Aaron Gordon as well as highly touted sophomore Brandon Ashley.
