Rutgers still interested in Baez

UPDATE: Both 2013 guard Allen Baez (Miami, Fla./Miami Senior) and forward Wilfredo Rodriguez (Orlando, Fla./East River) visited Rutgers two days ago but neither left with offers, reported Adam Zagoria.

“Coach [Eddie] Jordan and [associate head coach David] Cox are seriously considering Baez,” Todd Washington of the Puerto Rico Playmakers told SNY.tv. “Baez can come in and be a 10-15 minutes backup to Myles Mack right now.”

Baez is visiting UNC-Greensboro today and Oregon State next week, as well.

Zagoria also reported that Rutgers is no longer interested in Rodriguez. It appears Rodriguez will reclassify to the class of 2014 and will attend Air Force Prep (CO) next year, per his D12 Warriors AAU coach, Carlos Morales, Jr.

As we noted last week, Rutgers needs players. The Mike Rice situation left the program without many contributors that it had expected to return, and also cost the Scarlet Knights some recruits. Eddie Jordan comes in as a more than capable coach who hopes to right the ship in a hurry, but he'll need some pieces to work with.
