Florida State outfielder/right-handed pitcher Jameis Winston was named on Tuesday to Baseball America's preseason All-American team as a utility player on the third team.
This, of course, led to a great deal of speculation as to whether Winston -- a Heisman trophy-winning QB who led the Seminoles to a national championship in January as a redshirt freshman -- could follow in the footsteps of Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders and Brian Jordan (among others) as athletes who played in both the NFL and MLB.
The answer to that question isn't a simple one, but there are several factors that make that proposition an unlikely -- though not impossible -- scenario.
"He's not a first-round guy to me," an NL executive said. "There's just too much volatility in a prospect like that.
