UPDATE: According to reports, Cuban shortstop Alexander Guerrero could be close to signing. What MLB teams are still in the mix for Guerrero, who his known for both his power and speed? And is a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers imminent?
Darren Wolfson of 1500ESPN in Minneapolis provides a little more clarity on the topic with this tweet from Friday, indicating that he could announce where he's signing in the middle of this week some time and that he doubts it'll be the Minnesota Twins, which have needed help at the six-hole since dealing J.J. Hardy away after one poor season in 2010.
While Boston, Atlanta and the Chicago Cubs are reported to still be under consideration, the odds-on favorite at this point looks to be the Dodgers. Dionisio Soldevilla of ESPN Deportes tweets today that the "Dodgers are #1 choice" and Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports that the two are closing in on a deal expected to be worth $32 million. If Guerrero does opt to sign with the Dodgers, he'll enable the team to slide Hanley Ramirez to third base next season -- or, Guererro himself could play the hot corner and Ramirez could stay at short -- as a replacement to Juan Uribe, whose three-year deal is set to expire after the season.
