Gerald Green back to bench role

Gerald Green started 12 consecutive games for the Phoenix Suns while Eric Bledsoe recovered from a bruised shin and Tuesday that ended when head coach Jeff Hornacek went back to his preferred backcourt of Bledsoe and Goran Dragic.

“It’s better for the team,” Green told The Arizona Republic. “Eric is good either way but even better when he starts. He takes over the game at the beginning and puts his imprint early. Goran is good playing the point guard or two-guard. This is a good opportunity for me to help those guys off the bench and hopefully give them some extra firepower."

Green has been up-and-down during his career, but if he can consistently produce he will provide a big boost off the Suns bench. On Tuesday Hornacek played Green 24 minutes as a reserve and struggled with his shot as he made just 1-8 attempts from the field.
