The Golden State Warriors fired Mark Jackson on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
"It's never easy to make a decision of this nature," Warriors GM Bob Myers said in a statement released by the team. "Mark has accomplished many good things during his three years with the organization, including his role in helping elevate this team into a better position than it was when he arrived nearly 36 months ago. We're appreciative of his dedication and commitment since his arrival and are extremely grateful for his contributions. However, as an organization, we simply feel it's best to move in a different direction at this time."
To the Warriors' credit, they acted quickly in coming to a decision on Jackson. Whether it was the right one is to be determined, but this is sure to rub more than a few Warriors fans the wrong way following a regular season in which they won more games (51) than they had in 21 years.
