Clayton ready to narrow down long list

Power forward Dre'Kalo Clayton (Orlando, Fla./Orlando Christian Prep) had a very productive july as he lead the D12 Warriors to the Final Four of the AAU Nationals before falling to the talented Arkansas Wings, which eventually won it all.

The 6-foot-6, 245-pound forward has the ability to create matchup problems with his ability to score inside and out, depending on who is defending him.

"I thought I played real well in July. I showed the scouts that I can handle the ball, have a good motor and am willing to play defense. I also attacked the basket and showed I could hit my shot out to the 3-point line," said Clayton, who goes by Dre.

He has a long list of offers from a variety of levels and he plans to break down his list and start to schedule visits by the end off August. USC, Kansas State, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi State, South Alabama, Penn State, Clemson, Tennessee, Illinois, South Carolina, Southern Mississippi, VCU, UTEP, South Florida, Central Florida, Tennessee Tech, Murray State and Wagner, among others have offered according to Clayton.

"I will get the list down then take visits and sign in November," he said.

Clayton has a ton of schools to break down in order to figure out where he will take his talents, but one thing is for sure Clayton will compete with toughness and be productive.

"I will keep working on my ballhandling and get in better shape," Clayton said.

I think Clayton is a sleeper in the 2013 class. He is the type of talented player coaches love, but because he's slightly undersized for the power forward position are hesitant about.

However, if Clayton continues to work and takes his work ethic to another level in college, he could be one of those players coaches will be asking "Where did he come from?"

His upside is that good and the end result is up to him, but I like his chances.
