Underclassmen changing the Western trend

If you're curious about what is trending in Southern California high school basketball, look no further than the continued onslaught of talented underclassmen who are imposing their will. It's no secret the Pac-12 has struggled in recent seasons, and the catalyst has been the dried-up talent pool in the West. That trend appears to be in reverse mode, though. From Santa Monica (where The Tournament is held) to Huntington Beach (Jim Harris Ocean View Tournament of Champions), a bevy of underclassmen are imposing their will on the competition.

Standout Players

Parker Jackson-Cartwright (Los Angeles/Loyola)

2014, PG, 5-foot-7, 140 pounds

Status: Uncommited (down to Arizona and UCLA)

Parker Jackson-Cartwright continued his dominant play with yet another display of wizardry in Santa Monica. His feel for the game and handle are off the charts and his jump shot has improved. Size and strength are concerns for the next level, but at this level he's unstoppable.
