LAS VEGAS -- It was business as usual for No. 17 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) on Saturday at the Jerry Tarkanian Classic as the Monarchs steamrolled a young but very talented Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) squad 76-60 in the finals.
The Monarchs were led by MVP Stanley Johnson, who scored at all three levels and affected the game in multiple ways. Elijah Johnson also continued to show why he is one of the best unsigned scoring guards as he poured in jump shots from all over the court. However, the most impressive aspect of the Monarchs is their endless supply of glue-type players, led by 2014 standout Mario Soto.
Of course, there were plenty of other talented players on display at the event, which ran from Dec. 20-22.
Here’s a look at the best performances from the Tarkanian Classic, including many elite uncommitted underclassmen.
