Scout's Take: ESPN 60 SG Tyler Herro picks Wisconsin

ESPN 60 shooting guard Tyler Herro committed to Wisconsin on Monday afternoon, giving Badgers head coach Greg Gard a huge early in-state prize. Herro held offers from Marquette, Arizona, DePaul, Purdue, Florida, Indiana, Iowa State and Xavier among others after an excellent spring and summer performance on the travel circuit with the Wisconsin Playground Warriors.

Let's take a look at what Herro will bring to Madison.

Why he committed: Gard and his staff made Herro their top target the day he took over the program. They offered an opportunity to play in his home state in front of family and friends. It was too good for Herro to pass on.

What he brings: Herro is a long and versatile, highly skilled shooting guard. He is an excellent shooter with a quick and confident trigger and deep range. He shoots over smaller defenders with ease. Herro spots up on the break and is excellent coming off screens and stretching the defense in space. He also can slide over and help at the point due to his ability to initiate the halfcourt offense. He is a good decision maker and does a good job of getting open teammates the ball. Herro has some leadership skills, is very coachable and is a good teammate. His versatility will allow him the luxury of playing all three perimeter positions at the major college level in small lineups.
