College basketball’s spring signing period rarely has the excitement or anticipation of its counterpart in the fall. Most players take their official visits in September and October, and schools hope to get their recruiting classes completed by the time the college season begins in November. As a result, when mid-April rolls around, there are normally very few players still on the board and coaches are turning to transfers, junior college players and high school guys who boosted their stock during the season.

This season looked like it was headed in that direction back in November. Only a handful of players seemed poised to have their recruitments extend past the early signing period -- but a couple of five-star prospects let the period come and go without a signature, and so we enter the second week of April with eight ESPN 100 prospects still available, including four five-star prospects.

If you’ve been focused on the college basketball season and the NCAA tournament, we can’t blame you. But we’ll certainly help you catch up and get ready for the next couple of weeks in the recruiting world.
