Weber gets first at K-State

According to the Kansas City Star, new Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber landed his first recruit with the Wildcats on Tuesday. 6-foot-8 power forward Darrell Johnson (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) pledged to sign with Weber, chosing K-State over Memphis and Virginia Tech.

"I had a good visit to Kansas State and really got along with the players there," Johnson told the paper. "They told me about the program and Coach Weber, how nice a guy he is. They also have the major I'm going in to - construction engineering. I liked all those things about Kansas State."

The Wildcats recently lost ESPNU 100 big man Robert Upshaw (Fresno, Calif./San Joaquin Memorial) who signed with Fresno State. They have a letter of intent from center Laimonas Chatkevicius (Lithuania/South Kent School) but his status remains unclear.
